It's a new era for a former New England Patriots head coach.
After stepping down from his role following the 2023 NFL season, many wondered what was next for Bill Belichick.
We got our answer in January 2025 when Belichick confirmed he would become the next head coach of the University of North Carolina.
It will be his first time as head coach of a college team, a move that many sports fans and media outlets have discussed.
However, away from the football field, Belichick also found himself in the spotlight after attending various events with his 24-year-old girlfriend.
Now, Belichick will blend his professional and personal lives at work with UNC.
According to NBC Sports' Mike Florio, Matt Hartman of TheAssemblyNC.com discovered a unique request from Belichick regarding his work emails.
Florio claimed that Hartman received emails from the former Patriots head coach to UNC officials, instructing them to copy his girlfriend on specific messages sent to him.
Some of the emails Belichick wanted his girlfriend copied on focused on "social media and web content." Florio also said Hartman added that she was copied on emails determining which interview requests to accept.
The report may seem a little out of character for Belichick, who was tasked with balancing the roles of head coach and general manager for the Patriots during his tenure.
North Carolina fans will hope Belichick's girlfriend's involvement with his work emails doesn't interfere with or distract him from developing a strong football team.
UNC is part of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Although the team has a successful history, it has not been a powerhouse for a long time.
Belichick will undoubtedly have his work cut out as he tries to deliver a championship trophy to a team that has not won its conference since 1980.
