Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny felt his team showed off their ruthless side on [Sunday by beating Atletico 4-2](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/3/16/24385662/atletico-madrid-barcelona-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions).
The Polish stopper spoke afterwards and admitted he felt sorry for Atletico as he thought they had been the better team for most of the match.
> “We were happy because it’s a massive result, as human beings we also have to feel a little bit sorry for the opposition. As long as they had the energy I though they were better than us. They took their chances very well,” he told the media.

> “What made the difference was the energy level. They didn’t have the energy to make the extra yard and the extra tackle, it’s natural after such a tough week but you have to take those chances when they come.”
Atletico played extra-time in midweek and ultimately went out on penalties to Real Madrid in a heart-breaking Champions League defeat. Sunday’s loss has also hurt their titles hopes, with Atletico now four points behind Barca who also have a game in hand.
