Back in 2020, the Dallas Cowboys moved to lock down wide receiver Amari Cooper to five year, $100 million contract. The Cowboys, however, traded Cooper to the Cleveland Browns in 2022.
During the 2024 season, the Browns traded the five-time Pro Bowler to the Buffalo Bills. In the exchange, Buffalo received Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick while Cleveland got a 2025 third-rounder, and a seventh-round pick in 2026.
Because the Browns restructured his massive contract, paying much of the deal up front, the Bills only had to pay his remaining base salary, the veteran's minimum. While Cooper didn't make a huge impact in Buffalo, he's still considered one of the top free agents this offseason.
While Cooper, who's just a year removed a 1,250-yard season, is rumored to have interest from multiple teams, NBC Sports analyst Matthew Berry casually dropped a head-turning report on the 30-year-old veteran.
A Commanders blog wondered if Cooper would be a good fit in Washington on March 14, to which Berry responded, "Amari is done. That's not me talking. That's from an offensive coach of a former team of his I spoke to at the Combine."
"Whoa. Alrighty then! Withdrawn," the fan account responded. However, numerous users online needed more clarity on Berry's statement. One fan asked, "Unclear comment by Berry-Is he saying he is done because he is retiring or done as far skills to play?" Another person inquired, "When you say 'Done' - in what way? Injuries?"

It's not clear if Berry is insinuating that the former first-round pick is ready to hang up his cleats after 10 years in the league or if he's making a brutal assessment on the veteran's current talent level.
Cooper suffered a wrist injury during Week 8 that kept him out multiple weeks. Bills general manager Brandon Beane later revealed that he opted to play through it instead of undergoing surgery. He finished the 2024 season with a total of with 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games.
