MUTV pundit gives verdict on how Ayden Heaven was playing for Man Utd before badly timed injury blow

An injury to Ayden Heaven was the one piece of bad news that threatened to ruin Manchester United’s win at Leicester.

Manchester United chalked up a fourth victory over Leicester City this season, this time a 3-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.

The only negative on a bright day for United was an injury suffered to defender Ayden Heaven.

Heaven, 18, was stretchered off early in the second half after appearing to sustain an ankle injury, and he looked in clear pain.

Ayden Heaven performance praised

The injury could be described as a mixture of both unfortunate and cruel, with Ayden Heaven making his first Premier League start.

He had previously made two substitute appearances in the league and FA Cup, before making his first career start days earlier in the Europa League against Real Sociedad.

Heaven was playing really well for United against Leicester, making 53 touches in 51 minutes, winning two tackles, making two clearances, and making two blocks.

Speaking at half-time, former United and Leicester player Danny Simpson told MUTV: “I think Heaven’s playing really well, I really like the look of him.”

Speaking at full-time from pitchside, in the wake of the injury suffered to Heaven, he said: “”I was gutted for him, I thought he was playing really well.

“He’s good on the ball. He was making some good blocks. It didn’t look too good, but hopefully it’s not bad, and we can see him on the pitch again.”

Studio pundit Siobhan Chamberlain voiced worry, adding: “You could see he was in a considerable amount of pain.”

Heaven left United in a walking boot, able to leave the stadium on his feet, a good sign, although inconclusive over his upcoming time of absence.

What Ruben Amorim said about Ayden Heaven injury

Speaking post-game, Ruben Amorim said it would be too early to diagnose Ayden Heaven’s injury.

“We have to evaluate during the week. He’s a young kid and he doesn’t know how to explain what he’s feeling – it is hard for us to know.

“He’s a bit calm now, but we have to assess in the week.”
