Harry Amass sends message after making Man Utd debut, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes respond

Manchester United wonderkid Harry Amass made his Manchester United debut in the win over Leicester City.

Harry Amass came off the bench during the second half against Leicester City to make his Manchester United debut.

Amass made United’s bench in April 2024 for the first time under Erik ten Hag, reward for superb performances for the under-18s.

The former Watford talent then impressed during pre-season, but he has had to bide his time to wait for the next step.

Harry Amass debut

Harry Amass was a second half substitute during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Leicester, with his debut coming on his 18th birthday.

Amass fared well, giving a good account of himself, managing 30 touches after coming on as part of a triple substitution in the 69th minute.

He is the third young player handed a Manchester United debut under Ruben Amorim, and the 253rd player to make the step up from Manchester United’s academy to the first team.

The left-back posted on Instagram, writing: “Amazing feeling to make my debut for such a massive club and a great win for the team.”

His message prompted responses from first team stars, including club captain Bruno Fernandes, who wrote, ‘Just the beginning’.

Mason Mount, also on the bench, posted: “Day to remember, congrats brother.”

There were also congratulatory messages from Diogo Dalot and Toby Collyer, plus promising right-back Jaydon Kamason.

Harry Amass has been working behind the scenes

Harry Amass was impressive during pre-season, but United were cautious with him despite the lack of left-back options.

United did not send him out on loan, preferring to work with him in-house, desiring him to work on his physicality.

Amass has been working hard in the gym at Carrington, as well as continuing to excel on the pitch, helping the under-18s into the FA Youth Cup semi-finals.

Now he is making in-roads to the first team, although in this case he was helped by Patrick Dorgu serving the last game of a three-match ban.

Amass was clearly glad and relieved to get the debut under his belt, and there will be more opportunities ahead, this season perhaps, and next.
