On 11 March, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Japan Jean-Eric Paquet attended a memorial event organised by the Fukushima Prefectural Government to commemorate victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, which triggered massive tsunami that in turn caused a meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in the prefecture.
Together with representatives of 17 EU Member States, Ambassador Paquet offered his sincerest condolences to those who lost their lives in the triple disaster and paid tribute to those who continue to work tirelessly for the reconstruction and revitalisation of the impacted areas.
