Antony is enjoying success away from Manchester United at Real Betis
Antony has opened up on a reason behind his struggles at Manchester United.
The Brazilian made the move to Betis in January following a challenging stint at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim and ex-Reds boss Erik ten Hag. Since his transfer from Ajax to Manchester in August 2022 for a substantial €100million (£85.5m), the Brazilian has only scored 12 goals for United.
Antony has already surpassed this season's goal tally for the Reds since joining Betis. The forward only found the back of the net once for United in the 2024/2025 season, but has already scored four goals in just 11 games for the La Liga team.
And the 25-year-old has had his say on one of the reasons behind his struggles at M16. Antony claims the Manchester weather was a contributing factor.
"The sun here helps a lot, and the city (Seville) is better than Manchester," he told reporters in Spain. Despite enjoying a new lease of life in Spain, Antony says it is 'too early' to discuss his future at Old Trafford.
“I don’t know, it’s too early to talk about that, as you say, I’m always enjoying every day here, I’m very happy, very content, and well, that’s always the way it is,” he said as relayed by Sports Witness.
Earlier this month, United boss Ruben Amorim claimed the winger was unable to deal with the physicality of Premier League football.
"When you play against any team in England, the physicality is there. If you don't have physicality, you will struggle a lot," Amorim told Rio Ferdinand on TNT Sports. "Antony is so much better now in Spain. It's [because of] a lot of factors but I guarantee you it's physicality."
