Newcastle United continue to rejoice after winning the Carabao Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Eddie Howe's squad claimed a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Wembley Stadium to win their first major domestic trophy since 1955. Dan Burn opened the scoring in the first half before star striker Alexander Isak doubled Newcastle's lead in the capital.
A Federico Chiesa consolation goal for Liverpool was not enough to stop Newcastle from winning the Carabao Cup and enjoying euphoric celebrations after the final whistle. The Magpies will now spend the next two weeks revelling in their win in March's international break - before returning to Premier League action early next month.
Here, Chronicle Live takes a look at how the national media reported their history-making day;
Paul Joyce wrote for The Times: "When a moment 70 years in the making finally came to pass, Newcastle United did not know what to do with themselves. Dan Burn, the homegrown hero who had set the party in motion, stopped for a split-second before flinging himself into the waiting arms of centre-back partner Fabian Schar.
"Bruno Guimaraes collapsed in a heap, burying his face in his turf and sobbing his heart out, before Sandro Tonali jumped on top of his midfield partner.
"Eddie Howe, the architect of this, scurried across the Wembley pitch, punching the air in delight, and providing a sharp contrast to the scene just a few yards away where some of Liverpool's crestfallen players lay flat out in disappointment.
"Up in the posh seats, Alan Shearer, among the many who had tried and failed to lift the hoodoo, went berserk."
Oliver Holt added for the Daily Mail: "Some wept, of course. Tears of unbridled joy. Some flung their hands to the skies, thinking perhaps of loved ones long gone who would have given everything to be here. Some screamed out their ecstasy that they were part of this great exorcism at the place that, for so many cruel years, has seemed to welcome them like a curse.
"I noticed one other, too, who spent the second half in a state of such nervous paralysis that his friends kept prodding him and laughing at his state of fear. He stood there, this middle-aged man, his thick black and white scarf wrapped around his neck and his hands clenched together in prayer for 30 minutes or more.
"And when it was over, when the final whistle sounded and Newcastle United had beaten Liverpool 2-1 and Newcastle United had won their first trophy for 56 years and Newcastle United had won their first domestic trophy for 70 years, finally, he unclenched his fists and allowed himself to be followed up in that swell of joy."
Jason Burt concluded for The Telegraph: "What is black and white and all over the Reds? For Newcastle United the years of anguish, hurt, sometimes humiliation and not a little desperation are finally over. They have won their first trophy for 56 years and their first domestic silverware for seven long, long decades. And deservedly so. For once the tears were tears of joy. And relief.
"When they lifted the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 it was a month before the Moon landing. Newcastle went into orbit and are back among the stars after this stellar performance against Liverpool to claim the Carabao Cup and spark a Toon takeover.
"A statue for Eddie Howe? Maybe even so as he cemented his right to be regarded as the best English manager of his generation and the first to win a domestic trophy since Harry Redknapp, with the FA Cup, in 2008. The last to win this one? Go even further back to Steve McClaren 21 years ago."
