Report: David Moyes and Angus Kinnear in disagreement as key decision awaits at Everton

The Friedkin Group have made a number of changes since joining Everton in December.

The American investors sacked Sean Dyche during their first few weeks at the club and are now on the lookout for a new sporting director after confirming that Kevin Thelwell will be leaving.

Everton have been linked with David Weir, however, he is set to snub their interest in favour of staying at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Dan Ashworth continues to be mooted with a switch to Goodison Park, too, but there’s not been any movement on that front lately.

Angus Kinnear to Everton is a done deal and he will join as the new chief executive after agreeing to leave Leeds United.

Now, it’s just come to light that Kinnear wants to bring two Leeds chiefs with him but David Moyes has other ideas.

Angus Kinnear wants to bring Nicky Hammond and Gary Penrice from Leeds United

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Angus Kinnear wants to bring Nicky Hammond and Gary Penrice to Goodison Park when he joins officially in June.

The soon-to-be Everton chief executive is planning a restructure of the recruitment team, with Hammond wanted as an adviser.

Meanwhile, Penrice is a highly-rated scout, so if the Leeds duo were to join, they’d be in charge of the transfers on Merseyside.

Everton aren’t expected to open talks until they’re mathematically safe from relegation, by then, the budget will be clear.

Interestingly, Penrice was a scout at Everton previously.

David Moyes wants Rob Newman and Mick Doherty

Moyes has his own ideas to Kinnear.

The Scotsman wants to hire his former colleagues Rob Newman and Mick Doherty, who worked closely with him at West Ham United.

Newman and Doherty held important roles at West Ham and had a big say in recruitment during Moyes’ reign.

However, it’s understood that Kinnear may have the final decision, which could cause some tension.
