President Sergio Mattarella on Monday laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Rome's Vittorio Emanuele Monument, otherwise known as the Altar of the Homeland, to mark the Day of national unity, the Constitution, the anthem and the flag in Italy.
Mattarella was welcomed in Piazza Venezia by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto.
The ceremony was attended by Premier Giorgia Meloni, the Speakers of the Senate and Lower House, respectively Ignazio La Russa and Lorenzo Fontana, and the President of the Constitutional Court Giovanni Amoroso, among others.
