Team News Arsenal

The Gunners come off the back of an important WSL win against Everton last weekend. Renée Slegers gave some of her players a little bit of rest but had to bring them on in the second half to secure the win. Cooney-Cross, Foord and Mead really made a difference in the game.

In goal we had Zinsberger as Daphne van Domselaar was out with a concussion. It’s unlikely that she will return tomorrow night but hopefully the head coach has a positive update on her. Same goes for Lotte Wubben-Moy who has been out with an injury. Lina Hurtig did return against Everton.

What the coach has to say

Slegers is yet to give a pre-match press conference on the match against Real Madrid. She did have some positive things to say after the Everton win:

“Leading into the Everton game, I think the girls have been very focused and determined and been together and been training really well. I think you could see it today on the pitch as well. It was a very strong mentality from the girls to be able to put this football on the pitch today.”

The head coach and her team work from game-to-game but had her eyes on Real Madrid right after the Everton game: “It’s super important. Now we’re going to go into the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on Tuesday and that’s where we want to be.

“It’s very cliché but we go game-to-game so we haven’t been talking about Real Madrid at all. We wanted to do really well today and get a result against Everton and that’s what we did so now we’re going to focus on Real Madrid.”
