Postecoglou unhappy with Tottenham star in Fulham defeat; summer exit on the cards?

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to turn the tide around at Tottenham Hotspur quickly

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou’s miserable season at the helm continues. His side lost yet again against a defensively solid Fulham at the Craven Cottage on Sunday. Spurs kept the Cottagers at bay for almost 80 minutes before a defensive error gave Fulham the breakthrough.

Odobert ran into traffic on the right flank with three Fulham players surrounding him. After giving the ball away, Spurs were caught by surprise and a cross was played in which was brought down by Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira in the box. The Brazilian went on to set up striker Muniz who calmly placed it into the bottom corner.

Spurs faced a 15th league defeat of the season at the hands of Fulham

Fulham were then hit with a flurry of Spurs attacks and the Lilywhites were denied a clear penalty as well by the referee and the VAR. Amidst all of that, Fulham chose to go Route 1 and keeper Bernd Leno played a long hopeful ball over the Spurs defence. Ex-Tottenham player Ryan Sessegnon brought the ball down and finished a curling a effort to make 2-0 to the hosts.

It is now 15 league defeats for Ange Postecoglou’s side in the Premier League. The North London club sit 14th in the league table and are ten points away from entering the top 10. Chairman Daniel Levy will be under pressure throughout the upcoming international break and will have to make a decision regarding Ange’s future.

Ange Postecoglou not happy with Yves Bissouma’s performance

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has been having a season to forget for the club. Brought from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022, the Mali international has not lived up to his expectations at all. The Spurs No.8 was hooked at half-time for the third consecutive game running as well.

Ange Postecoglou was asked about the 28-year-old’s performance against Fulham, to which the Australian manager replied (as transcribed by Football.london),

“I just feel Biss can sometimes let the game drift by him. He needs to be a little bit more dominant in the way he gets on the ball. At times I think the game gets away from him and today we needed more in that position. I needed him to play though, because he hasn’t played a lot.”

The ex-Celtic manager went on to add,

“At the same time you’ve got to perform. It’s fair to say, Biss and a few others are probably lacking a bit of confidence. That’s affecting him but we’re at the point of the season now where we need guys to get out there and put those things to one side and perform.”
