Chiefs free agency: Top remaining players K.C. should explore signing this week | Touchdown Wire

The signings of offensive tackle Jaylon Moore, running back Elijah Mitchell, and cornerback Kristian Fulton gave fans their first glimpse at what Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has envisioned for Kansas City’s new-look roster.

Take a look at the top 8 players remaining on the free-agent market who could be targets for Kansas City in the coming days:

WR Stefon Diggs

Diggs is one of the most exciting wide receivers in the NFL and could help the Chiefs get back to the Super Bowl as a featured piece of Andy Reid’s offense next season.

Chiefs’ Steve Spagnuolo Wanted This DB in 2024 NFL Draft | Arrowhead Report

“Now him, I really liked,” Spagnuolo said this week, asked whether he studied DeJean’s Iowa film last year on the Anthony Gargano Show. “I really liked both those DBs, actually.”

Those DBs were DeJean and Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell, and Spagnuolo wasn’t the only one who really liked them. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman nabbed Mitchell 22nd overall in the first round and traded up to take DeJean at No. 40 in Round 2.

Ravens, QB Cooper Rush agree to two-year deal worth up to $12.2 million| NFL.com

This move provides Baltimore with a new backup for Lamar Jackson after previous QB2 Josh Johnson entered free agency.

Rush was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2017, and other than a short summer stint with the Giants in 2020 before being signed back to the Cowboys’ roster, the quarterback has spent the last eight years with Dallas.

Rush has twice been called upon to start multiple games due to injuries to starter Dak Prescott, first going 4-1 in 2022 and then taking over again in Week 10 of the 2024 season when Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. Rush was 4-4 in his starts last season with 1,844 pass yards and a 12-5 TD-INT ratio.

Vikings acquiring RB Jordan Mason in trade with Niners | ESPN

The Minnesota Vikings continued their active offseason Saturday night by acquiring running back Jordan Mason from the San Francisco 49ers.

The Niners will receive a 2026 sixth-round pick in the trade and swap picks with the Vikings in this year’s draft, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. San Francisco will receive pick No. 160 and Minnesota will get pick No. 187, sources said.

Mason also has agreed to terms with the Vikings on a two-year deal with $7 million fully guaranteed and a maximum value of $12 million, his agents, Jason and Michael Katz, told Schefter.

Chiefs Roster: Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster re-signed for 2025

Schultz also reported that the ninth-year wideout — who is just 28 — had interest from other teams, but wanted to remain with the Chiefs. No additional details about his contract were immediately available.

Kansas City first wanted to sign the former USC wide receiver in 2021, after he had finished his rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. But despite being wooed by head coach Andy Reid, Smith-Schuster chose to remain with the team that had drafted him in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, signing a one-year, $8 million contract to remain in Pittsburgh.

But in Week 5 of that season, he suffered a severe shoulder injury that kept him on the Steelers’ Reseve/Injured list until the team’s 42-21 Wild Card loss to the Chiefs. The following offseason, Kansas City signed him to a one-year, $10.75 million “prove-it” contract that carried $7 million in incentives.

That season, he led the Chiefs’ wide receivers with 933 yards and three touchdowns on the way to the team’s victory in Super Bowl LVII, which was enough proof for the New England Patriots to sign Smith-Schuster to a three-year, $33 million contract.
