Manchester United made it four games unbeaten with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday

Manchester United head into the international break with plenty to be positive about after a 3-0 Premier League win over Leicester City on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils are virtually out of the race for Champions League football when it comes to their league position but a victory at the King Power has displayed some signs of progression under Ruben Amorim.

United’s main focus is the Europa League, as they prepare to take on Lyon next month in the quarter finals. They beat Real Sociedad 4-1 at Old Trafford last week to book their spot in the last eight after drawing 1-1 in the first leg. They also carved out a draw with second-placed Arsenal in the last week, and have not lost since being knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Fulham.

After the international break, they travel to Nottingham Forest before the Manchester derby with Manchester City at Old Trafford. They then have the first leg of their Europa League quarter final with Lyon a few days after.

Fernandes makes WhoScored Premier League Team of the Week

Bruno Fernandes again highlighted his importance to United on Sunday as he was involved in all three of the visitors’ goals at the King Power Stadium. The Portugal international scored in the 90th minute to seal a comfortable win while he also provided the assists for Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

In WhoScored’s latest Premier League Team of the Week, Fernandes was named in the 11 after being handed a 9.4 out of 10 rating by the statistic website. Along with his two assists and his goal, Fernandes had four shots, made six key passes and had a pass success rate of 85.7 per cent. He also put the work in defensively, with four tackles, one interception and two clearances. His 9.4/10 is the highest rating of any Premier League player this week.

Since his debut for United back in February 2020, only one player in Europe’s top five leagues has more assists for a single club in all competitions. That player is Kevin De Bruyne, who has 90 for Man City in that time. Fernandes is also the sixth United player to record 50 assists in the Premier League - joining Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Eric Cantona in an illustrious group.

Who else made WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week?

After their 2-0 win over Tottenham, the team was dominated by Fulham who had four players in the line-up. Bernd Leno was in goal while Joachim Andersen and Antonee Robinson took up the left-side of defence. Andres Pereira also made the cut in midfield. Jake O’Brien was in at left-back after his 91st goal rescued a point for Everton at Goodison Park against West Ham United.

Nottingham Forest won 4-2 at Ipswich Town with Nikola Milenkovic named as the final defender in WhoScored’s best XI of the week while Anthony Elanga also netted twice and earns a spot in the midfield. Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen also makes the cut after scoring twice at Southampton to virtually secure Wolves’ place in the top flight for next season.

The final two places are taken up by Man City players, despite Pep Guardiola’s side drawing 2-2 with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. Jeremy Doku earned an 8.2 rating for his display against the Seagulls, while Omar Marmoush was given an 8.1 rating after scoring a fine goal for City.

In other news, this is how much Manchester United need to sell Antony for this summer after more Real Betis heroics.
