What a week it has been!
The Broncos roster has undergone a few changes since free agency opened last week. D.J. Jones, Jarrett Stidham, Justin Strnad, Matt Peart, and Mitchell Fabroni all resigned with the Denver Broncos. Joining the Broncos from other teams are Talanoa Hufanga, Dre Greenlaw, Trent Sherfield, and Evan Engram. While the initial flurry of action has quieted down, there’s still some to be had this offseason with unsigned free agents, Michael Burton and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Plus there are the players that were tendered, Lucas Krull, Dondrea Tillman, Jordan Jackson, Ja’Quan McMillian, and Devon Key.
The lull of the offseason burped to life in a big way and, at least on paper, it appears that the Broncos moves will make them a better team in 2025. It’s refreshing to actually have money to spend after being hogtied by a crippling Russell Wilson contract as in year’s past.
Next, all eyes turn to the NFL Draft, April 24-26. The Broncos have 7-picks, 1 on day 1, 2 on day 2, and 4 on day 3. With obligations to the Russell Wilson and Sean Payton trades finally met, Denver is set to have it’s first “normal” draft in years.
What’s most interesting about this offseason is that without the players who opted to sign elsewhere, Javonte Williams (Cowboys), Zach Wilson (Dolphins), Tremon Smith (Texans), Cody Barton (Titans), and Riley Dixon (Buccaneers), Denver’s fortunes don’t decline all that much. Once you add in the free agents and the youth movement from the draft, the Denver Broncos are improving.
Are the 2025 Broncos going to the Super Bowl this year? Probably not. Will they put up more of a fight than in year’s past? It’s certainly looking that way! How can you not be pumped by the moves that the Denver Broncos have made so far?
