Bruno Fernandes remains determined to lead in his own way, and his current form suggests the team would not want it any other way.
A standout performance in a 3-0 victory over Leicester saw Bruno Fernandes score his fifth goal in a week, adding to his already impressive contributions.
Two assists and a goal at the King Power Stadium followed Fernandes’ hat-trick in Thursday’s Europa League triumph over Real Sociedad, where United secured a quarter-final clash with Lyon.
A goal in last weekend’s draw against Arsenal further underlined his influence as his side climbed to 13th in the table.
Bruno Fernandes’ display came after former United captain Roy Keane questioned whether his talent was enough.
Former United captain Roy Keane unleashed a furious tirade on the Stick To Football podcast last month, calling the Red Devils squad “f*****g imposters” and stating that “talent is not enough” when it comes to Bruno Fernandes.
Keane criticized Fernandes’ leadership as club captain, claiming he isn’t a fighter.
Ian Wright came to Fernandes’ defense on the podcast, and United’s current manager, Ruben Amorim, also stood by his captain, stating, “Bruno is really important for us at the club.
“He’s special to me.
“He’s playing well in a challenging situation and always takes responsibility.”
The Portuguese international dismissed the criticism after his side’s 3-0 against Leicester City over the weekend.
“I do things in my own way,” he said.
“Obviously it’s not nice to hear those things, but it motivates you, and people think there’s always something to improve.”
Having contributed 16 goals and 15 assists this season, his impact has been undeniable.
“I respect Roy Keane a lot,” Fernandes continued.

“Not everyone will like what I do, but I accept that there’s always room for improvement, in my game, in my leadership, and in everything I do.”
With 31 goal involvements in all competitions, Bruno Fernandes trails only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland in the Premier League.
Since arriving at United in February 2020, his 80 assists across all competitions are second only to Kevin De Bruyne among Europe’s top leagues.
Following the win at Leicester, he reflected on the performance.
“We knew it would be difficult, and we had to be at our best,” he said.
“In the first half, we made mistakes in transition, but in the second, we controlled the game and took our chances.”
Ruben Amorim praised his relentless work ethic and ability to recover quickly between matches.
“He’s a special guy in that aspect,” said Amorim.
“I always see a Bruno that is dangerous and can recover in every situation.”
The United boss added: “I already knew Bruno, but what surprised me was his work every day.
“In Portugal, we saw his frustration, but here, I see a very good professional.”
Bruno Fernandes relentless performances prove he’s one of United’s most valuable assets.
