Kai Havertz has sent the perfect message after Arsenal's Premier League win over Chelsea. Mikel Merino scored the only goal of the game, which saw the Gunners keep their slim title hopes alive with the gap to Liverpool now at 12 points.
Though Arsenal perhaps should've won the game by a more significant margin, Mikel Arteta's side looked back to their best in defence with another clean sheet kept that made the Arsenal boss particularly pleased. "Yes, very happy obviously with the result, with big parts of that performance," he admitted in a press conference.
"I love the attitude of the team from the beginning, the way we approached it, how aggressive we were with our goal, scored a goal. A lot of chances that we didn't put away and then we continue to do a lot of the things defensively so well and the right to attack open spaces.
"Then we have to try back 70 metres and on that phase probably we've beaten one of the best teams in the world today because we were unbelievable the way we've done it.
"We have conceded almost nothing apart from that strange save from David, I would say and that's a big credit to the team because in my opinion they are the best attacking team in the league." Havertz was another that appeared to enjoy the game as he watched his current employers beat his former club.
On Instagram, seemingly sat in a box at Emirates Stadium, the Germany international posted a photo from his seat with a red heart emoji as the caption.
Havertz spent three years at Chelsea, and despite scoring the goal that won them the Champions League, it does not look as though he holds that period particularly close to his heart. Last season, he scored a brace when Arsenal beat the Blues 5-0, and he celebrated both goals emphatically.
Arsenal have missed the 25-year-old in his absence due to injury, and it remains unlikely he plays again this season. However, Bukayo Saka is expected back some time after the March international break, and Arteta will be hoping that return arrives in time for their Champions League quarter-final tie.
