One missing after skiers hit by avalanche in Trentino

One person was reported missing on Monday after an avalanche hit three skiers on a glacier in the area of Capanna Presena in Trentino's Valle di Sole, ANSA has learned.

After the avalanche hit the group of skiers, two people were rescued while a third remained trapped under the snow, according to preliminary information obtained by ANSA.

Alpine rescue services are working to find the missing person.

And in another incident reported on Monday, a skier was wounded after being hit by an avalanche under Puntat Helbronner, on the Toula Glacier on Mont Blanc.

Meanwhile a man and a woman who were hit by an avalanche Sunday while skiing on Forcella Giau in the Dolomites above Cortina d'Ampezzo were reported to have died on Monday.

Elisa De Nardi, 38, from nearby Conegliano, died overnight at the hospital of Treviso while 40-year-old Abel Ayala Anchundia, a resident of Vittorio Veneto originally from Ecuador, died at around midnight at a hospital in Mestre near Venice.

A third skier who survived the incident, Andrea De Nardi, a 51-year-old from Conegliano, is being treated in Pieve di Cadore Hospital but he is not in serious condition, medical sources have said.
