Nottingham Forest won 4-2 against Ipswich in the race to secure Champions League football next season.
Whatever happens in the final nine games of the campaign, it seems clear that Forest will go in search of some new signings when the transfer window reopens.
Evangelos Marinakis wanted to sign a striker in January. However, the Reds were priced out of moves for Yoane Wissa and Matheus Cunha with the club choosing to wait until the summer.
Forest will likely make a number of changes to the squad in the summer. A striker will remain on the radar but other areas of the pitch will undoubtedly be strengthened too – especially if European football is on the horizon.
Santiago Gimenez was the high-profile striker that Forest wanted in the summer of 2024. He’s now headed to AC Milan and hopefully, the Reds can move on from that and get things right in the next window.

Nottingham Forest player Carlos Miguel offered transfer route
It’s not been a particularly successful time of things for Miguel at Forest and now, questions are being asked over his future at the club.
According to RTI Esporte, Cruzeiro – formerly owned by Ronaldo – have asked Carlos Miguel about his plans for the future and whether an exit from Forest could happen in the future.
Miguel signed in the summer of 2024 from Corinthians, with the goalkeeper restricted to appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup given the brilliance of Matz Sels between the posts.
MORE FOREST STORIES
It’s believed in the article that Miguel is happy at Forest, however, at this stage, he won’t rule anything out for the summer given that he’s not getting opportunities on Trentside.
Forest might look at another goalkeeper this summer
With Sels now 33-years-old, Forest might look towards a younger stopper in the summer – especially if a move for Miguel takes place.
Forest handed Wayne Hennessey a short-term contract in January to act as third-choice stopper and after Miguel injured his hamstring against Exeter, he’s been on the bench in recent weeks.
Miguel didn’t cover himself in glory at St James’ Park as Forest were nearly shocked. His error led to the Reds falling behind and he appeared shaky throughout the contest.
Nuno Espirito Santo has pledged his faith in Sels and he’s now collected 12 clean sheets this season with his latest coming during a 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Miguel might get a proper chance at Forest if he’s patient but if he wants to play or indeed wishes to return to Brazil, then perhaps the Reds would be wise to look towards the signing of another stopper in the summer.
