Newcastle United fans show what they really think of Amanda Staveley and she responds on…

Amanda Staveley was in attendance to see Newcastle United win the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium.

It was an emotional day for everyone involved, perhaps no more so for former Newcastle United owner Amanda Staveley, who watched the Magpies’ historic Carabao Cup win alongside her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi as well as other members of her family.

Amanda Staveley was gifted final tickets by Newcastle owner Jamie Reuben, who still thinks very highly of the 51-year-old, despite a frosty exit from the club last summer.

It was announced that Staveley and Ghodoussi were leaving Newcastle following a disastrous PSR deadline which saw the club forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh. The Magpies have since recovered from those sales and dared to dream at Wembley.

Anderson was in the stands watching Newcastle win, the 22-year-old is a boyhood Toon fan and has openly admitted he never wanted to leave for Nottingham Forest but understood it was something he needed to do for the good of the club.

With Newcastle’s name etched onto the Carabao Cup forever, Staveley has taken to social media to reflect on a memorable day.

Amanda Staveley’s social media post after Newcastle United win

Staveley wasn’t the only Newcastle legend in attendance at Wembley on Sunday. Alan Shearer watched on from the stands and was caught jumping for joy on the cameras after Dan Burn scored Newcastle’s first goal of the game.

Rob Lee congratulated Burn on scoring for Newcastle, ending a 25-year wait for another Wembley goal.

Newcastle’s final invite to Staveley was a fantastic gesture to someone who has done so much for the club in the past, the former Toon owner took to the social media platform Instagram to make her feelings about the occasion known.

Included in her post is a video where Staveley can be seen with tears streaming down her face, showing just how much the Carabao Cup win means to her.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for their incredible support to Mehrdad, Lexi and I at Wembley yesterday,” she said. We felt so privileged to share the support of all the amazing fans, and to celebrate Eddie and the team’s unbelievable performance.

“No one deserves this more – and I know this will be the first of many, many trophies. You are incredible… passionate, loyal, hardworking and most importantly Geordies. We love you all!”

Newcastle fans should never forget Amanda Staveley’s contributions

The fact of the matter is that Newcastle would not be where they are now if it wasn’t for Staveley. It all started in 2017 when Staveley visited St James’ Park where it was clear she intended to buy the club after falling in love with it.

For four years, Staveley tried to buy the club, but Mike Ashley wouldn’t play ball until October 2021 when everything finally went through and Newcastle were free from his clutches.

Staveley and Ghodoussi’s Newcastle exit was tough to take for some, including Howe who believed he lost an ally in Staveley. Thankfully, he seems to have gotten on just fine without her.

Either way, fans should still adore Staveley and appreciate the hard work she put in at Newcastle from top to bottom, especially the women’s game which was almost non-existent before she arrived.
