Darren Eales steals the show with incredible Newcastle United photo after Carabao Cup final win

Newcastle United are officially Carabao Cup winners, is this real life?

The Magpies didn’t just do it, they did it in style, nobody can fault a single performance from any of Eddie Howe’s men on the pitch at Wembley – they knew exactly what they needed to do.

It’s a real pinch-me moment, Newcastle United have ended their 70-year trophy drought with a stunning performance against Liverpool on the biggest stage.

Local lad Dan Burn scored Newcastle’s first goal, a stunning header which forced its way past Caoimhin Kelleher. Early into the second half, Alexander Isak doubled Newcastle’s lead with a fine finish in front of the 32,000 screaming Geordies.

Tino Livramento kept Mohamed Salah quiet all game, becoming the first person to ensure the Egyptian didn’t register a shot on goal for 392 games. Many members of Newcastle’s boardroom, including chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Jamie Reuben, were in attendance at Wembley.

Even former club officials were in attendance. Amanda Staveley was emotional for Newcastle after the win, she was the person who helped the Magpies be taken over in the first place.

Now, with the feeling of success finally beginning to sink in, Darren Eales has done something that all Newcastle fans will love.

Eales will soon be departing Newcastle after being diagnosed with a chronic form of bone cancer, but it has very much been business as usual, despite his setback.

Newcastle posted a turnover of £320m for the previous financial year, a lot of that can go down to the work Eales has done behind the scenes to continue making the club more of an attractive sponsorship opportunity for interested parties.

Eales has also been known to add comedic value to the club, making clever puns relating to Newcastle’s rivals or taking the time to bash previous ownership. In a recent interview, Eales blasted Mike Ashley for Newcastle’s poor commercial revenue before the takeover in 2021.

Now, after the cup win, Eales posted a picture of himself in bed with the Carabao Cup trophy with the caption: “Sweet dreams Newcastle!”

Alan Shearer sends two-word message to Newcastle players

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer was in attendance for the Magpies’ historic win on Sunday, the camera cut to him after the first goal where fans could see him jumping for joy.

Shearer never won a trophy for Newcastle during his 10 years at the club, despite playing in two FA Cup finals. Now, he has finally seen his boyhood club win a trophy.

The Magpies posted their dressing room photo late into the night, Shearer responded by simply saying “Thank you.”

Shearer recalled an ’embarrassing’ Newcastle moment where the squad returned to Tyneside having lost the FA Cup in 1998. The players took an open-top bus tour without the trophy.

Newcastle aren’t doing a bus parade with the trophy due to the team going on a warm-weather camp and several players heading out for international duty.
