**Former West Ham player Martin Allen has warned that the club simply have to get the summer transfer window spot on to avoid disaster.**
Our Hammers have somewhat turned a corner on the heavy losses which were occuring throughout the reign of Graham Potters predecessor Julen Lopetegui, however Potter has undoubedly instilled a more robust side, which is far more competative in the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee on The West Ham Way Patreon, former Hammers midfielder Allen feels though that the mess left from Lopetegui highlights how crucial it is that the club get things corrected this summer, with Potter and his Head of Recruitment Kyle Macaulay expected to oversee a summer of significant change.
“Make no mistake, this is a huge summer for West Ham,” stated Allen on the Mad Dog Bites Podcast. “Potter has done a great job in steadying things, but my word there is a lot to do – there are serious issues with this squad.
“It’s not good enough and its a huge summer for the club, because if its not done right, this club could quite easily be relegation contenders if not careful.
“However, it won’t happen overnight. Potter is introducing a new style to this team and it take a lot of time, but overall I think he’s doing very well.”
