**Bruno Guimaraes has realised his dream of writing his name into the Newcastle United history books by helping the club lift its first domestic trophy in 70 years.**
When the Brazilian arrived at Newcastle, he set his stall out immediately by saying he would write his name in this club's history books, but we wonder if even he envisioned doing so as the captain of the team.
Eddie Howe gave Bruno the armband this season, and while many have questioned the decision, nobody can argue that there's a more passionate player in the Newcastle camp.
Big Dan Burn is a lifelong Newcastle fan, a former season ticket holder and he scored the opening goal for his boyhood club at Wembley in a major final, and yet it was Bruno who was laid on the Wembley turf in tears at full time. It means so much to him.
Bruno Guimaraes says winning the Carabao Cup was the 'first step done'

After the game, Bruno Guimaraes talked to TalkSPORT's Alex Crook with the clip being played this morning amid Simon Jordan doing his best to take the shine off the apple for Newcastle fans.
In the clip, Bruno reveals what he said to his team before kick-off and it clearly worked.
> "What a moment. To be honest I don't have any words, we're just feeling this for the fans. 70 years is a lot, they deserve it, we played for them."In the changing room I said to the players 'Today we go onto that pitch as a player and we leave as a legend' and this happened. I'm very happy we put our name in the club's history.

> "To be honest, I'm just getting started. I want more. Since when I signed up for the club, and we were fighting relegation, I said I wanted the Champions League, I wanted to win something for the club and put my name in the club's history. First step done."
Simon Jordan going back and forth over whether he's happy for Newcastle is priceless

If you don't want to listen to Simon Jordan being bitter, the Bruno interview starts at about 6:50 in the video, but honestly, it's kind of worth listening to Jordan too. He can't seem to make up his mind over whether he's happy for Newcastle or just bitter.
One thing is clear, he is delighted for Eddie Howe and he has a big admiration for him, so we'll take that as a win. We're chipping away at his icy heart.
We'll even let him have his little joke where he says about Eddie Howe going on to manage a big club. We're too happy to bite.
