Under-18s midfielder Samal Bangura has been named in the Sierra Leone Under-20s squad for this month’s training camp and friendly series in Morocco.
Son of ex-Watford star and full Sierra Leone international Al Bangura, Samal has earned his first opportunity for his country at youth level after progressing well in our Academy set-up.
Normally a central midfielder but also capable of operating as a right-back, the 17-year-old has started five of our last six Under-18 Premier League fixtures under coach Stuart Lewis and bagged a goal and assist in **[Saturday’s 4-0 win at Norwich City](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2025/march/academy-fine-goals-cap-big-win-at-norwich-for-under-18s/)**.
Sierra Leone Under-20s will face Ghana, Saudi Arabia and Morocco in friendly matches at the latter country’s Mohammed VI Football Complex over the coming week in preparation for next month’s Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where Samal will hope to feature.
Samal is one of a number of Academy players heading off to represent their countries this week.
