The Miami Dolphins have an important draft ahead of them in 2025. With a lot of money tied up in veteran players, the draft supplementing the rest of the roster is imperative.
One of the most important aspects of the draft is finding depth pieces on day three. Miami needs depth at a plethora of positions, but one that hasn't been discussed is the running back room.
According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the Dolphins were present at the Michigan State pro day and were one of many teams interested in running back Nate Carter.
The Dolphins ran his pass-catching drills, which NFL teams wanted to see, as Carter had only 18 receptions in 2024. Carter looked good in not just the pass-catching drill, but all of his drills.
Carter ran the 40-yard dash and was clocked in at 4.37 seconds. Carter came in at 5'9'' and 200 pounds. The height-weight-speed numbers for Carter are incredible, and part of why NFL teams are interested in him.
In his 2024 season at Michigan State, Carter wasn't heavily involved. Carter had 116 carries for 499 rushing yards and five touchdowns with no fumbles.
Across his four-year collegiate career, Carter has no season with more than 186 rushing attempts, 795 rushing yards, and five touchdowns. Carter has just 2,271 rushing yards on 492 attempts, with 12 touchdowns in his college career.
While Carter has a smaller sample size than some of the other running backs in the draft, his athleticism and film are enough for NFL teams to consider him in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins would likely target Carter in the sixth round or later, as the 2025 NFL Draft is rife with running back talent. The 2025 NFL Draft starts on Thursday, April 24th, and ends on Saturday, April 26th.
