MOSCOW (Kyodo) -- A Japanese man, who was detained in Belarus in July, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for espionage, the Eastern European nation's prosecutors said Monday.

Masatoshi Nakanishi is alleged to have taken over 9,000 photos of the border area between Belarus and Ukraine over six years and sent them to his home country.
