Jake O’Brien amazed at what Leighton Baines has just introduced to the Everton players in…

Jake O’Brien has had a serious turnaround at Everton and his late equalising goal against West Ham will only fuel his motivation.

It’s a continuing bafflement how Sean Dyche never gave the chance to young O’Brien at Everton.

The fact he’s played out of position at right-back under David Moyes says it all, as the Irishman continues to impress.

O’Brien was hailed as ‘unbelievable’ for Everton and it’s become hard for Moyes not to include him in his plans next season.

There’s a key reason around the defender’s form and a lot of it is down to Leighton Baines.

What Baines has done in Everton training that’s amazed Jake O’Brien

It seems like the Everton manager’s decision to include Baines behind the scenes has proven to be a great success.

The former Toffees left-back knows the club inside and out and it has left Moyes ‘really impressed’ with Baines.

A key factor of this has been the change Everton’s goal scoring as O’Brien’s 90th-minute header not only makes it nine league games unbeaten but also nine league games consecutively scoring.

O’Brien handed the plaudits over to Baines in the post-match interview, who has been a revelation in training

“That is part of the training we are working on, getting into the final third and creating chances. I think we have shown that today we are just unlucky we didn’t finish them,” O’Brien said.

“Leighton (Baines) has been a big part of it; all the coaches have been part of it, getting a few players in, attacking and defending, working on different things.

“I think it showed in glimpses today. The more games I play, the more comfortable you become.

“You adapt and I have good lads and coaches around that helps.”

O’Brien threat is now Moyes’ secret weapon from set-pieces

It seems a continued trend when Moyes starts a new venture.

His set-pieces is what makes a team, and that has proven to be a key component of Everton’s success.

You can bring this down to Baines’ impact but it also continues a trend in which the Everton boss excels in, as before joining Moyes wanted Everton to improve set-pieces.

Well at previous clubs, he’s had Everton target Tomas Soucek, who prove his threat on Saturday, Marouane Fellaini and now it seems O’Brien is next in line.

Two goals in three games prove this, and it certainly something Moyes should continue with.
