Patriots Expected to Target Former Vikings Veteran Center

The New England Patriots made the shocking decision to release long-time center David Andrews on Thursday. The two-time Super Bowl champion has spent his entire ten-year career with the franchise after going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft. He did, however, miss the entire 2019 season due to injury and played just four games last year.

The Patriots are reportedly expected to have interest in Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury, who is expected to be released or traded. Mike Reiss of ESPN listed the 2019 first-round pick as a potential target for New England, writing:

The status of Vikings center Garrett Bradbury as a potential option bears watching for them. The Vikings plan to release Bradbury if a trade can't be worked out, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter, and it seems unlikely a team will want to take on his $4.9 million base salary. So should Bradbury become a free agent in the coming days, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Patriots sign him, per ESPN's Mike Reiss

Reiss added that the Patriots explored the possibility of signing Drew Dalman. The fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft ended up joining the Chicago Bears on a three-year, $42 million contract.

New England entered the offseason with a glaring need on the offensive line after allowing 52 sacks in 2024, tied for the fifth-most in the NFL. They have already bolstered the protection around quarterback Drake Maye with the addition of offensive tackle Morgan Moses and offensive guard Wes Schweitzer.

The Patriots offensive line struggles contributed to one of the worst passing units in the league last season. They ranked 30th in scoring offense, 31st in total yards, 31st in passing touchdowns, and 32nd in passing yards.
