69-touch Man United star continues redemption under Ruben Amorim with '100%' flawless display vs Leicester

Manchester United are finally building up a good run of form under Ruben Amorim.

Following an emphatic win over Real Sociedad on Thursday evening, Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0 to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

Ruben Amorim is making progress at United. The Red Devils are still only 13th in the Premier League table but the patterns of play suggest that things are finally starting to click.

Bruno Fernandes was excellent again, adding another goal and assist to his tally against Leicester.

But there were several others who impressed, especially in defence. Matthijs de Ligt could have won the POTM award according to Wes Brown. The Dutchman played a big role in securing a rare clean sheet.

As did wing-back Diogo Dalot, who also provided an assist in United’s comfortable win.

Diogo Dalot impresses for Man United vs Leicester City

At the start of the month, Dalot was United’s worst performer in the first leg of the Europa League clash against Real Sociedad.

Dalot unforgivably missed a pass to Rasmus Hojlund in that match, which saw the Portuguese full-back receive heavy criticism after the full-time whistle.

However, Amorim has kept faith with his compatriot, and Dalot redeemed himself against Arsenal when he picked out a wonderful pass for Noussair Mazraoui. It offered some hope that he could still turn things around as a wing-back.

With Patrick Dorgu serving his suspension, Dalot kept his spot at left wing-back against Leicester, and he put on a brilliant display to continue his redemption arc.

Dalot believes United have turned a corner under Amorim, and he was heavily involved in some bright attacking play at the King Power Stadium.

Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system relies on creativity from his two wing-backs, who are ordered to press high and be a threat out wide.

However, heading into the Leicester match Dalot only had two goals and three assists to his name in 44 appearances this season. It is clear that is something he needs to work on if he is going to be a mainstay in Amorim’s side.

His attacking play was much better against Leicester, and he picked up an assist for Bruno Fernandes late on when he found United’s captain with a precise cut-back.

Dalot’s overall match stats show he put on a well-rounded display in the Premier League.

Dalot was flawless in several areas of his performance, including 100% of long balls, dribbles and aerial duels.

He was also not dribbled past once all game, and won seven of his eight defensive duels. A strong platform to build on when he returns to action after the international break.
