Eddie Howe has done it. Our gaffer has guided us to a day we didn’t think we’d ever witness.
Our first piece of domestic silverware for 70 years and a moment that created memories that will last a life time between three generations of Newcastle United fans.
Every Mag that stepped on that pitch did us proud yesterday in that 2-1 win over Liverpool and Howe got his approach bang on, outsmarting Arne Slot and managing emotions perfectly.
However, the boss did get emotional in his post-match interview at Wembley and spoke with passion, class and pride as he spoke to the media.
After shaking hands with all of the press pack, Howe shared his thoughts on the game, ending that 70-year wait and paid tribute to several players – but there was one moment that showed another side of our brilliant boss.
6:10 into the clip below, Howe tears up as he pays tribute to his late mother, who passed away 12 years ago but clearly played a huge role in pushing him to where he is today.
It’s a brilliant post-match press conference – starting with a joke about his “smell” after being drenched by Joelinton – and is well worth a watch:
Howe is the ultimate professional. He’s dedicated so much of his life to this club since arriving in 2021 and his determination to take us to that next level has been relentless.
He speaks with such class, positivity and knowledge, his Newcastle side is developing and we’ve been on some journey over the past three and a half years, but he was always going to be judged, in the end, on our success. Can he takes us to the next level? Can he turn this team into winners?
Well, after some doubters and a few tough periods over the past 18 months, he has done it. He’s secured legendary status and overseen the greatest win in our lifetime.
He is a class act and proved to so many that he can be the man to take us to the top, with Sunday’s win the biggest moment in his career. Let’s hope it’s the first of many under Eddie!
