West Ham were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Graham Potter has steadied the ship since he was appointed at the London Stadium to replace Julen Lopetegui and his side bounced back from defeat to Newcastle on Monday (10 March).

The Hammers are no longer in relegation danger and don’t have to look over their shoulders after a dismal start to the campaign under the Spaniard.

West Ham could finish above Everton

The draw against former manager David Moyes was a positive one for Potter given that the Blues are on a nine-match unbeaten run.

The Hammers may even finish above the Toffees, according to a new prediction that has been made after the result.

The Opta Analyst supercomputer predicts that the East London club will finish 15th, one position higher than where they currently are in the standings and above Everton.

The Irons are expected to finish on 45 points, 20 points above the drop zone, and have a zero per cent chance of relegation to the Championship.

A 15th-place finish will not be celebrated but the important fact is that Potter has stabilised the club and they need to finish the season strongly ahead of his first full season at the helm.

Potter needs a summer overhaul at West Ham

West Ham were tipped for European qualification at the start of the season but have ended up having to salvage a dismal campaign after the poor decisions of Lopetegui and former sporting director Tim Steidten.

Potter needs to be backed in the summer transfer window to overhaul the squad, as it is clearly not good enough to compete at the top half of the table at the moment.

The focus right now will be on planning for next season and finishing the season as well as they can, with several players fighting for a future under the former Chelsea manager after poor performances in this campaign.

It promises to be an exciting summer as Potter has shown that he and his recruitment team can build a top-quality team already in his time at Brighton.
