Liverpool are on their way to lift their second Premier League title under new manager Arne Slot. The Reds have performed brilliantly throughout the season and are on course to lift the trophy with games to spare. The Merseyside have a 15-point cushion at the top over second-place Arsenal and are also in the Carabao Cup final.
With just 10 games to go this season for the Reds, Arne Slot will be hoping that his players will not lose focus and start the last part of the campaign with a Cup Final win over Newcastle United this weekend. Star player Mohamed Salah has been in astonishing form. As per Sofascore, the Egypt international has played in 42 games in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists in that time.
Jamie Carragher is unconvinced that Liverpool will splash the cash for Alexander Isak.
Now Arne Slot will be hoping that his other forwards can contribute as well in this crucial part of the season and help Liverpool get over the line with a few games to spare. A few players have still not impressed Slot as much but will hope to turn their fortunes around as soon as possible if they want to have a career at the Merseyside club.
Alexander Isak to replace Darwin Nunez at Liverpool?
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez looks all set to leave the club this summer after failing to impress Arne Slot. The Uruguay international joined the Reds from Benfica in the summer of 2022 but has failed to live up to his expectations this season.
However, according to earlier reports by The Kop Times, Alexander Isak is one of the targets for the Reds this summer to replace the outgoing Nunez. The 25-year-old has been in prolific form this season. As per Sofascore, the Newcastle United star has scored 19 goals in 25 Premier League games and has also provided five assists.
Jamie Carragher is unconvinced that Liverpool will splash the cash for Alexander Isak.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies are set to ask for more than €70million in the summer and Liverpool are said to be keeping an eye on the Sweden international. However, the Reds are also going to face competition from title rival Arsenal for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Jamie Carragher has his say on the Isak saga
Ex-Red Jamie Carragher was asked about Alexander Isak and the transfer saga revolving around him and Liverpool. The former England international had some doubts over the transfer taking place as he thought it would be a lot of cash that Liverpool would have to spend to lure the talented striker away from St. James’ Park.
Carragher told the Redmen TV,
“That is the one little question mark against him, he’s not someone who plays every game. He’s not. And that’s when I think about Liverpool, me, personally, all round, I’d still have Haaland. I think there’s a mentality about Haaland, he’s just got that killer instinct. When you talk about paying £150m, for a 25-year-old, I don’t know if that’s something Liverpool would rightly look at.”
The Liverpool legend went on to add,
“In terms of ability wise you’d love him to play up front for Liverpool and you’d pay good dollar for him, but we just know as well as anyone the model of Liverpool, I don’t know if they pay that for someone who’s 26 next season.”

Bringing Alexander Isak to Liverpool will surely elevate the attacking quality of the squad. But there is a sense of doubt over the fact that the Reds would not be willing to spend a bucket load of cash on a single player when there are so many other positions that need to be addressed as well in the summer.
