Revealed! When and where Newcastle United's Carabao Cup victory event will happen

It wasn’t a dream. Newcastle United have won a trophy!

70 years since their last domestic trophy, the Magpies ended the drought by winning the Carabao Cup on Sunday, beating Liverpool 2-1 in the final.

And now the club are preparing a mass event in the city to celebrate.

When will Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup parade take place?

NewcastleWorld understands Newcastle United have pencilled in Saturday, March 29 for a victory event on the Town Moor.

In the past, Newcastle have hosted open-top parades but the plan is to host a staged event to all supporters. The there isn’t a game that weekend after the Magpies were knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Newcastle staff and players celebrated at Wembley Box Park their trophy success on Sunday night, but many went their separate ways on Monday morning due to the international break.

Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton are en route to Brazil, while Dan Burn, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon are at St George’s Park ahead of England’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.

Those who aren’t on international duty will enjoy some warm-weather training in Dubai before returning to Tyneside.

And it is then that everyone - staff, players and fans- will have the opportunity to gather for a mega celebration, 56 years on from Newcastle’s last major trophy.

Newcastle have touched base with Newcastle City Council over the aforementioned date.

What has Eddie Howe said on Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup success?

Asked if there would be a big celebration back in Newcastle, Howe said: “Yeah, I think there has to be. I certainly will be encouraging it, which is very rare for me, believe me. Usually I'm the other way. But no, we have to celebrate.

“We have to celebrate hopefully with our supporters, with everyone that's waited so long. It is difficult because it's international duty. Players will be going off here, they're going everywhere. We're going to Dubai tomorrow. So there won't be long to spend together. But hopefully it'll be really enjoyable.

“I think it's really important. I think hopefully with one, it can become more. There's no guarantee though. But I just think it proves we can do it. I've never had any doubts about our ability to lift our game. But you don't get many shots at this. You don't get many shots at a cup final.

“Today we had to try and take our opportunity. And that's where the players delivered under pressure so well and so impressively. It also proved that we can mix our game against the very, very best. Now the challenge for us is to try and get there more often, as in lifting our game like we did today.”
