Broncos Trade Pitch Lands No. 13 Pick to Draft Support for Bo Nix

The theme of free agency and the entirety of the offseason for the Denver Broncos has been to add weapons for second-year quarterback Bo Nix. Denver went out and got the "joker" that Sean Payton was looking for in Evan Engram.

Now, there's one more position that can be upgraded in a massive way in the draft, and that is running back. Fox Sports' David Helman has the Broncos doing just that in the NFL Draft.

Helman has Denver trading up from No. 20 to No. 13 and selecting Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2024 and had the best season for a running back in college since Barry Sanders set the all-time rushing record.

Trading up to get Jeanty would show just how serious the Denver front office is about loading up on weapons for Nix. Jeanty would immediately become the starter and replace Javonte Williams, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys in free agency.

In a division as powerful and explosive as the AFC West, offense is needed. Being able to put up points with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert is no easy task, so it is never a bad idea to keep adding on offense, which is exactly what Denver will be looking to do in the draft.

Whether it is Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, or someone else, it should be expected that the Broncos will come out of the draft with their starting running back for the 2025 season. If it is Jeanty, Denver has a real chance at winning its first division title since 2015.
