Steelers Predicted to Select 14,000-Yard QB to Replace Russell Wilson

It was a good 2024 season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, going 10-7, finishing second in the AFC North and even making a playoff appearance, eventually losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round.

However, the team's main starter, Russell Wilson, who produced solid numbers, starting 11 games and completing 214-of-336 passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a 95.6 passer rating, is currently a free agent.

His chances of a return become more unlikely considering he's even visited other teams, such as the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns.

That's why in an NFL mock draft from 247Sports, Brad Crawford predicts the Steelers will find their Wilson replacement from Colorado's Shedeur Sanders with the No. 21 pick.

Sanders, who, in his four years as a college starter, has proven the ability to put up big numbers, throwing for a total of 14,325 yards, 135 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions.

This would also be a bit of a steal for the Steelers, as Sanders is widely considered to be one of the two best quarterback options available in the draft, alongside Miami's Cam Ward.

He is also coming off one of his best seasons in 2024, completing 353-of-477 passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 168.2 passing efficiency rating.

With Wilson looking for a new home and the only other two quarterbacks on the Steelers' roster being Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, there's a strong chance Sanders would be the team's Week 1 starter in this scenario.
