Former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood is facing two big decisions

Mason Greenwood was again left out of the Marseille starting XI for their Ligue 1 defeat to bitter rivals Paris Saint-Germain. The former Manchester United attacker was named on the bench for last weekend's defeat to RC Lens and he was back among the substitutes this past Sunday.

With his side searching for an equaliser at 2-1 down, Roberto De Zerbi put Greenwood on for the final 30 minutes but he was unable to make an impact with PSG instead adding a third. After the game, De Zerbi was asked for the reasons behind his decision with the Marseille boss citing an Ousmane Dembele example.

"For me, he's not in the right physical condition to play," he said. "Mason is a crucial player for us. But if I'm not mistaken, at the beginning of the season Dembele wasn't in the starting XI. We need Mason, but he has to be in good physical condition. It's very important at this point in the season."

Here, theManchester Evening News looks at Greenwood's impending choice and why United might have one eye on his long-term future in the summer transfer window..

United reunion with Jamaica

Greenwood has been in the headlines recently with his national team allegiance switch from England to Jamaica ongoing. The 23-year-old made one senior competitive appearance for England but he is still eligible to change the country he represents.

Former United coach Steve McClaren is in charge of the Reggae Boyz and his latest update on Greenwood suggests a reunion is on the horizon, with the pair having briefly worked together at Old Trafford. "We are in contact with him and his family all the time," the Jamaica head coach revealed after announcing his squad for Concacaf Gold Cup qualifiers against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines..

"I am very confident he only wants to play for Jamaica. It is up to him when he moves forward with that; the ball is in his court." Another big decision seemingly awaits Greenwood this summer as he has been linked with a move away from Marseille.

Sell-on clause

United will be hoping their former academy graduate does embark on a new adventure with the club believed to have a sell-on clause worth around 40 to 50 per cent. Given how tight funds will likely be at Old Trafford, a switch for Greenwood could hugely boost Ruben Amorim's summer budget.
