Chelsea make enquiry about 25 year old French superstar

Chelsea have made enquiry about 25 year old French superstar. The player is highly-rated and currently plays for Liverpool. The Reds are unwilling to part ways with the player but may have to do so in the summer window.

The star in question here is Ibrahima Konate who joined Liverpool in 2021. He has since developed into one of the best defenders in Premier League. Konate has formed a superb duo with his partner Virgil van Dijk. But, their is a big fear that the Reds may lose both of them this summer.

Firstly, Van Dijk will be out of contract at the end of this season. He is yet to extend and may likely leave for free this summer. In addition, Konate will also enter the final year of his contract. Hence, it will complicate the situation of Liverpool defence.

Chelsea make enquiry about Ibrahima Konate

According to TBR Football, Chelsea have made enquiry about Ibrahima Konate. Liverpool are unwilling to part ways with Frenchman and are offering him new contract. But, the 25 year old has not responded well to the new contract.

Their are plenty top clubs across whole Europe showing interest in Konate. If the Frenchman keeps rejecting offers, the Reds will make him available in the market. They will not want to lose player like Konate for free.

Chelsea are willing to sign atleast 2 new defenders. They have Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi as their top targets. But, Liverpool are now leading the race for Guehi and hence the Blues will focus on other players.

Konate can be a very good addition to Chelsea squad. He will inject leadership and experience in the young side of Enzo Maresca. However, the Blues can find it hard to convince the Frenchman if they fail to secure the UCL spot this season.
