Insider Believes Lakers Could Make Blockbuster Move This Offseason

The Los Angeles Lakers were part of the biggest trade of this generation when they received Luka Doncic in February.

But they are still not exactly where they want to be and would love to add even more talent to the roster this summer.

According to Evan Sidery, they could partake in another monster trade that would shake up the league.

Sidery reported that the Lakers could land Kevin Durant if they wanted.

They could acquire him and his $54 million contract by trading away Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, and Maxi Kleber.

“After the Mark Williams trade was rescinded, Los Angeles can deal some draft capital too,” Sidery added.

If the Lakers wanted to make a push for a Kevin Durant trade, they have the necessary salaries:

Durant: $54,708,609

Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber = $54,696,833

Although the numbers work and the Lakers could make this happen, would they want to?

Kleber hasn’t played a game with the Lakers yet because of an injury but Reaves, Hachimura, and Vincent have become very important parts of the team.

That is especially true for Reaves, who is the team’s third option and a fan favorite as well.

It seems unlikely that the front office would want to part ways with these three stars, even for a star like Durant.

Besides, the Lakers’ biggest weakness comes in the frontcourt and they’d be wise to land a big man instead of someone like Durant.

He is definitely one of the best players in the NBA, but he might not fill the voids they need to address.

Instead, the Lakers will probably look at all the centers on the trade market and beef up their roster with one of them.
