This year, Arsenal have the best defensive record in the Premier League, conceding just 24 goals in 29 games. Much of that is down to their centre-backs.

Behind the pair, defenders Jakub Kiwior and Ben White who can play at the centre-back spot, but their lack of depth could be exposed if they were to see injuries.

Former Gunner Gallas has said that Arsenal need to sign an experienced centre-back in summer. He told Prime Casino: “I don’t know what they’re going to do next season. It all depends on who is going to be brought in. Which striker is he going to bring in? Which defender is he going to bring in?

“I think Arsenal need some experienced players, maybe someone that has won big prizes regularly and knows what it takes to get over the line.

“Saliba and Gabriel, they’ve got experience now because they’ve been playing together for years, but who is behind them? Kiwior? He has hardly played this season.”

Kiwior has made just eight Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season, the majority of which have come from the bench.

Which centre-backs could Arsenal sign in summer?

The Gunners have previously been linked to Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen who received his first call-up to the Spain National team for the international break this month.

He has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Chelsea after impressing this season for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Huijsen has made 23 appearances in the Premier League this season for the Cherries and is expected to have a £55 million release clause in his contract at the Vitality Stadium.
