Aside from it being St. Patrick's Day, fans in Tampa Bay have another reason to celebrate the occasion.
The Buccaneers fans could celebrate the anniversary of the agreement with quarterback new Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady.
On this date five years ago, Brady agreed to usher the Buccaneers into a new era of football. He took over for former No. 1 draft choice Jameis Winston, who failed miserably on the Gulf Coast.
On March 17, 2020, Brady agreed to terms with the Bucs on a two-year, $50 million contract.
He was given the keys to take their high-octane offense out for a ride every Sunday. He would actually sign his contract on March 20.
Brady left the New England Patriots after 20 seasons. He broke up with Bill Belichick in what would become one of the worst days in the history of the Patriots. They have not won more than a handful of games since Brady left.
"Excited, humble and hungry ... If there is one thing I have learned about football, it's that nobody cares what you did last year or the year before that," Brady wrote on social media.
As excited as Brady was, fans of the Bucs were split about Brady, Some were ecstatic and some thought at 42 he was too old. Little did they know he would lead them to Super Bowls and one title.
One fan even predicted the title in 2020 on social media,
"Bucs are winning the Super Bowl next szn. Remember this," the fan wrote.
