The striker has been linked to Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and more for a move in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are one of several Premier League teams that are expected to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. This season, they have had a combination of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee up front, who have combined for a total of just six goals in the Premier League this season.

Hojlund ended his goal drought during United’s 3-0 win against Leicester City over the weekend. He scored his first goal in 22 hours and 19 minutes of football, which will have boosted his confidence.

Despite this, United are likely to sign a striker in the summer, with one name linked to them being Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen. He is currently on loan at the Turkish club from Napoli.

United told Osimhen will move to the Premier League

Osimhen has been linked to a plethora of top teams after a couple of world-class goal-scoring seasons for both Napoli and Galatasaray. This year, he has netted 20 goals in 22 league games for the Turkish side, but is set to return to Napoli in the summer. He is expected to make a transfer move however, as his future at the Italian club is uncertain.

United have been heavily linked to signing the Nigeria international, who has a release clause of £62 million that will become active later this year. It looks almost certain that he will move to the Premier League according to his Nigerian teammate William Troost-Ekong.

Troost-Ekong plays with Osimhen as he is the current Nigeria captain, and he says that a move to the Premier League is the most likely for his striker teammate.

He told talkSPORT: “I know he’s a Chelsea fan, but I also know he’s had talks with all the top teams. It’s up to him what he chooses. He will fit into every team.

“I know Liverpool have spoken about getting a new striker next season. We will see. I’m also reading like everyone else is, that he has a clause this summer.

“When he went to Galatasaray I think it worked out amazingly for him. I couldn’t see him playing there for another season, or anywhere else but the Premier League next season.”

The biggest challenge for United in signing Osimhen will be meeting his £200,000 per week wage demands...a hefty price to pay.

Who else is in the race for Victor Osimhen?

United have been linked with signing Osimhen for a long period, as they are one of the biggest Premier League clubs, with a need at the striker position.

However, they aren’t alone, as several other Premier League sides are reportedly keen to sign the 26-year-old this summer too. Arsenal have been linked as they aim to fill the void that they have up front. Mikel Arteta is currently playing midfielder Mikel Merino as a striker due to their lack of squad depth at the position.

Furthermore, Chelsea have also been linked to Osimhen, and seeing as Troost-Ekong said he’s a Blues fan, it could be tough for United to tempt the Nigerian striker away from a move to Stamford Bridge. Liverpool are also set to sign a striker in the summer window, as Darwin Nunez has not become the reliable number nine that he was bought to be.

In other news, Ruben Amorim has named a Man United player who he thinks is ‘undroppable’.
