Mohammed Kudus wasn’t the answer up front for West Ham United in their 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
Graham Potter started with Kudus and West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen up front together as a makeshift strike partnership in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Goodison Park, coming up against David Moyes.
West Ham were on course for victory until Jake O’Brien’s last-ditch equaliser for Everton; the defender scoring in the 91st minute as both sides were forced to settle for a point on Merseyside.
Evan Ferguson was only brought off the bench in the final minute of normal time by Potter, and his lack of game-time and impact since his arrival on loan makes clear West Ham’s need for an upgrade up front.

Mohammed Kudus overshadowed for West Ham v Everton
While Bowen played a key role in the final third for West Ham, teeing up Tomas Soucek to sweep home the opening goal for West Ham in the 67th minute, his strike partner Kudus’ impact was negligible at best.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Ghana international Kudus has had a season to forget so far and hasn’t come close to hitting the heights he achieved last term, with just three goals and a single assist in over 2,000 Premier League minutes.
Though Kudus did complete a game-high three dribbles at Goodison Park, that proved to be the silver lining of an otherwise ineffective display which saw him hooked for Ferguson late on.

Kudus no-show leaves West Ham in need of upgrade v Everton
Though Potter has little choice but to experiment with the likes of Bowen and Kudus up front given West Ham’s lack of centre-forward options, the Ghanaian’s display at Goodison Park still left a lot to be desired.
Any ‘striker’ who doesn’t attempt a single shot on goal won’t be scoring many, and Kudus failed to do exactly that on Saturday, with his only final-third impact being a single chance created.
Furthermore, just four of the 24-year-old’s 48 total touches came in the Everton box with three final-third passes completed, and a woeful success rate of just 25 per cent in terms of crosses.
Kudus was also dispossessed on six occasions and completed just a single defensive action, failing with his only attempted tackle and also losing nine of his 15 on-the-ball duels throughout his 89 minutes.
A success rate of 43 per cent from 14 ground duels was followed up with zero per cent success in the air, and though Kudus did win two free-kicks, West Ham weren’t able to make anything of either.
