One thing has remained the same for the Cleveland Browns throughout the NFL offseason. They need a quarterback and they need one badly.
After working on a contract extension with superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett following his public trade request, the Browns still have a lot of work to do.
Many different names have been suggested as potential targets for Cleveland at the quarterback position. So far, the one move that they have made is to acquire Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Clearly, the trade for Pickett does not answer their issues at the position. He has potential for the future but is also preparing to play for his third team in four years to begin his NFL career.

One option that has been brought up on multiple occasions was pursuing a trade with the New England Patriots for young quarterback Joe Milton III. While it was an intriguing idea, the Browns do not seem interested.
In a new mailbag article for The Land on Demand, Cleveland analyst Tony Grossi crossed the option of a trade for Milton off the list of potential avenues for the Browns.
He noted the price tag that a trade for Milton would carry as a likely reason for Cleveland's lack of interest.
"I floated the idea of trading for Milton last week with no evidence whatsoever the Browns had interest in doing so. There is no evidence they are discussing it. One drawback would be the cost. Sources closer to the situation than me expect the asking price of the Patriots to be a third-round pick. "
Milton would have been a very intriguing target for the Browns. He only played in one game during his rookie season with the Patriots in 2024, but that one game was a masterpiece.

Against the Buffalo Bills in the regular season finale, Milton completed 22 of his 29 pass attempts for 241 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions. He also picked up 16 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Due to his strong performance, New England ended up pulling out a win.
There is no question that Milton has the potential to be an NFL starter. A team like Cleveland would make sense as a trade destination, but a third-round pick is a steep price to pay for a quarterback with one start under his belt.
Even though it was an intriguing thought, Grossi's report can all but eliminate Milton as a potential target for the Browns.
