Manchester United winger Antony was hailed again by local media after more heroics for Real Betis
Manchester United forward Antony continues to enjoy a fruitful run of form away from Old Trafford. The winger joined Real Betis on loan in January and was last week subject of some major praise from local media in Spain after Real Betis advanced into the last eight of the Europa Conference League.
On Sunday, Betis came from 2-0 down to beat Leganes in La Liga. Dani Raba scored twice in the first half for the hosts. Isco pulled a goal back from the penalty spot on 64 minutes. Cedric Bakambu equalised in the 78th minute before Cucho Hernandez won the game for the away side four minutes later. Antony was involved in the final - and winning - goal as his cross to Hernandez received a touch from Isco before being tucked away.
While Antony was not credited with the assist, his impact was still hailed by local media as he received further praise for his performance.
Local media pile praise on Antony
Betis Web gave Antony a 9/10 rating for his performance on Sunday. Writing about his performance, they said: “What a footballer. He has a repertoire of top-class moves, is completely unpredictable, and opponents tremble when they see him. His runs into space are pure gold. Perhaps the one who most believed in a comeback, his attitude rubbed off on the rest.”
El Desmarque handed him a 7/10 rating but were still effervescent in their praise. They wrote: “His involvement is a blessing for Real Betis. He never tires of running. Even in the worst moments, when he's least in the game, he contributes to the team. Commitment, leadership, urgency, desire... He launched the counterattack that made it 2-3.”
Estadio Deportivo also gave Antony a 7/10 rating. They credited the United player with being the thrust behind Betis’ attacks. They wrote: “He got less than he deserved. He kept trying again and again from the wing. He kept Betis' attack alive until the end on a day when they had to get down to the mud. In the end, his efforts were rewarded with the result. He got on perfectly with Isco.”
Antony’s performances at Betis and his United future
Since joining Betis, Antony has four goals and four assists in 11 games. A report from Manchester World on Monday revealed how United are still keen to sell him this summer despite his improved form. In order not to make a loss on the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, United would need to sell Antony for £32.52 million this summer.
Speaking of his form since moving to Spain, Antony said over the weekend: "The city has also played a lot, which is better [than Manchester] and good here. I am very happy here with it. And the sun here helps a lot. You’re every day at noon, awake, listening to yourself, I go to sleep smiling and that’s the most important thing for me."
In other news, Fabrizio Romano has shared a future update on key Man Utd star who is “so important and staying.”
