The Minnesota Timberwolves won again on Sunday night. They are currently riding an eight-game winning streak and look hotter than they have all season. Part of that has been the reintroduction of Julius Randle to the lineup, but another factor remains Anthony Edwards.
Anthony Edwards is arguably the most prolific talent in the NBA. He is certainly the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves after Tim Connelly traded Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks. The 23-year-old star is having his best professional season and he continues to rack up the accolades.
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards earns more praise
Over the past week Anthony Edwards played in three games for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He averaged 32.7 points per game and connected on 51.5% of his field goals. He hit 38.2% of his shots from deep and led the MN Timberwolves to wins over Denver, Orlando, and Utah. The NBA named him Player of the Week for his efforts.

Anthony Edwards last won Player of the Week honors on November 13, 2023. Only five players in franchise history have won the award multiple times. Edwards joins Kevin Love, Karl-Anthony Towns, Al Jefferson, and Kevin Garnett in that regard.

The MN Timberwolves own a 40-29 record while sitting just 2.5 games outside of the second seed in the Western Conference. With 13 games remaining, Chris Finch’s team will be looking to improve upon their current play-in tournament destination.
This season Edwards has averaged a career-best 27.4 points per game. He is shooting 44.5% from the field and 40.5% from deep. His 10.1 three-point attempts per game are easily a career high, and his ability to stretch the floor has only added to his game.

Edwards remains a prolific dunker, and his slam against the Utah Jazz put an exclamation point on his week. Naz Reid found Edwards on the perimeter and dished the rock for the superstar to throw it down.
The Timberwolves are back in action on Monday night against the Indiana Pacers. Rick Carlisle’s squad is 5th in the Eastern Conference and owns a 37-29 record this season.
MN Timberwolves must finish strong
This is an important stretch for the Minnesota Timberwolves. They are currently in the midst of a five-game homestand before heading out on the road against Indiana. Five of their final seven games happen away from the Target Center, and the more they handle business now the better.

Anthony Edwards will always remain a pivotal part of what Chris Finch attempts to do from a coaching standpoint. He shouldn’t need to win Player of the Week honors on a continuous basis, but he will always stir Minnesota’s drink.
