“We’re not happy” – Tottenham player shares behind-the-scenes mood as Ange’s future hangs in the balance

Tottenham Hotspur endured yet another frustrating setback in the Premier League, falling to a 2-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend.

This marked Spurs’ 15th league loss of the campaign, matching their worst record at this stage of a season since 1997/98.

Their inconsistency has been a major concern, leading to growing frustration among fans and increasing scrutiny from pundits.

Cristian Romero makes dressing room admission

Vice-captain Cristian Romero has now spoken out about the team’s struggles, acknowledging that the players are far from satisfied with their current situation.

After the Fulham defeat, the Argentine defender took to social media to express the squad’s disappointment but reaffirmed their commitment to taking responsibility.

Romero stressed the importance of unity and made it clear that the team remains determined to turn things around. He also extended his gratitude to the supporters for standing by them despite the difficult period.

The 26-year-old stated:

“We’re not happy with our current situation, but this group will always stand up and take responsibility for everything that happens at the club.

“Let’s all continue to stand together. Once again, fans, thank you for always being there @spursofficial.”

Romero, who recently returned to full fitness, started the match but was withdrawn in the second half to avoid aggravating a minor knock. His exit coincided with Fulham’s late dominance, as Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon found the net to seal all three points for the hosts.

Both teams struggled to create meaningful opportunities early on, however, Marco Silva’s second-half tactical changes made the difference, allowing Fulham to exploit Tottenham’s defensive vulnerabilities.

With the league campaign slipping further away, Spurs must now shift their focus to the Europa League, which remains their last realistic chance of salvaging the season.

Ange Postecoglou could be sacked

Manager Ange Postecoglou will need to utilise the international break to reassess the squad and find a way to finish the season on a more positive note.

His future at the club now hangs in balance, with the Europa League competition his only lifeline. If the club are knocked out of the European competition, he is expected to be sacked by Daniel Levy, with reports mentioning Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola as a potential replacement.

Before their Europa League quarter-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, Tottenham face a London derby against Chelsea.

While there is little at stake beyond bragging rights, a strong performance against their rivals could provide a much-needed boost heading into the crucial European fixture.
