Manchester United make decision on 27-year-old’s asking price amid Barcelona, Bayern Munich…

Manchester United are set to increase Marcus Rashford’s asking price amid interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

According to Mick Brown via Football Insider, Manchester United have increased their asking price for Marcus Rashford following his return to the England national team. The move to Aston Villa has helped him get his career back on track and it could also allow the Red Devils to raise significant funds from his departure.

Rashford was at the peak of his powers during the 2022/23 season as he contributed towards 40 goals. But, things haven’t been that great for him since. Not only did he struggle to return to his best under Erik ten Hag, but the arrival of Ruben Amorim saw him go down the pecking order.

The Portuguese manager wasn’t entirely pleased with his efforts and ended up dropping him from his squad. The 27-year-old forward ended up securing a loan move to Aston Villa during the winter window. Unai Emery was on the lookout for more firepower and he decided to back Rashford.

Marcus Rashford’s revival

The move has certainly worked out as he has been one of their standout performers and has four assists in his nine outings. It has helped him earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the international break. Former Manchester United scout Brown believes his return to the Three Lions could now allow the Red Devils to earn more from his potential transfer in the summer.

While speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: “Man United are going to demand a high fee for him,”

“Their asking price has increased after he was recalled into the England squad.

“I said when he went to Villa that the move would be a win-win-win situation for the three of them, and I think that has been proven already.

“Villa have benefited from his impressive performances, he’s been allowed to show what he can do, and now Man United can benefit from his sale.

“They’ve got the best out of a bad situation at United, really.

“It looked like they’d have to sell him on the cheap, but his value has only gone up.

“With the interest from Villa and from abroad, and a place in the England squad showing how highly-rated he is, it will allow them to drive up his asking price.

“I think it’s likely he will leave Man United in the summer, but they want to make the most money possible from that sale.”

Rashford’s relationship with Manchester United appears to have completely broken down, suggesting he will be offloaded in the summer. Reports earlier suggested the Red Devils would let him leave for a cut-price fee but his impressive performances for Villa and his England call-up have allowed United to raise their demands.

European giants want Rashford

With Emery’s team keen on a permanent move and Barcelona and Bayern Munich closely following him, Ruben Amorim’s team could certainly cash in on him and reinvest it to bolster their team. The Catalan giants seek more firepower on the flanks and Rashford could prove to be a marquee signing for them.

But, the financial side of things will make a move difficult for Hansi Flick’s team. Meanwhile, Bayern would love to have the 27-year-old partner with his compatriot Harry Kane. With Leroy Sane’s future uncertain, the United forward could be a great signing for them.
