Reports: Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan flashes speed during private workout

Arizona Wildcats wide receiver and projected first-round draft pick Tetairoa McMillan turned on the jets for NFL scouts during a private workout on Monday.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, McMillan posted a 4.48-second 40-yard dash with 24 NFL teams in attendance. The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler added his 40-yard dash times ranged from 4.46 to 4.53 seconds.

An official 4.48-second 40-yard dash time would have been the 25th fastest at the NFL Draft Combine.

Whatever the official number is, the 6-foot-4, 219-pound wide receiver checked another box in his 2025 NFL Draft preparation after opting against participating at combine and Big 12 Pro Day.

In his final season at Arizona, McMillan recorded a Big-12-leading 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns on 84 catches. For his efforts, he was named an All-American.

Where is Tetairoa McMillan projected to land in the 2025 NFL Draft?

The 16th ranked prospect by NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, McMillan is a no-doubt first-round pick in April’s draft.

As for where exactly he might land? That’s up for debate.

NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein has the wideout heading to Jacksonville at No. 5 overall in his latest mock draft. Look at Jeremiah’s latest mock draft, though, and Tampa Bay adds his services at No. 19.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. meanwhile has him even lower at No. 22 overall to the Los Angeles Chargers.

But after his reported 40-yard dash time, Kiper and Jeremiah might be on the low end.

Could the Arizona Cardinals have interest in adding Tetairoa McMillan this NFL Draft?

There are a few ways the Cardinals could use their No. 16 overall pick.

Adding another wide receiver in the first round — just a year removed from taking Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 4 — seems like overkill, though.

Arizona could use another pair of hands in a room that needs someone to take the WR2 role behind Harrison by the horns.

Michael Wilson was given every opportunity last year but turned in just 548 yards and four touchdowns on 47 catches despite seeing the third most targets on the team with 71.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Arizona add another wide receiver this NFL Draft. Just not in the first round.

While the idea would give quarterback Kyler Murray even more firepower to work with, further improving the trenches should be a higher priority for general manager Monti Ossenfort.
