Man United star and former Newcastle chief send message to Kieran Trippier after Carabao Cup win

Kieran Trippier battled through injury to help Newcastle United lift the Carabao Cup.

During the heartbreak of the 2023 Carabao Cup final, Kieran Trippier was Newcastle’s best player at Wembley on the day.

Two years on, Eddie Howe needed to rely on the 34-year-old’s experience and expertise again up against a Liverpool side who have dominated the Premier League this season.

With Lewis Hall out injured, Tino Livramento went up against Mohamed Salah at left-back, and Kieran Trippier was given the nod to start at right-back.

Despite struggling with a hamstring injury throughout the match, he fought on to play the full 90 minutes. Trippier lifted the trophy with Bruno Guimaraes and Jamaal Lascelles to mark the end of a 70-year wait.

Harry Maguire congratulates Kieran Trippier after Carabao Cup

Trippier came close to leaving Newcastle in the summer, and again in January. It seemed inevitable that his time on Tyneside was over.

However, Trippier wanted to stay for the cup final, and now he looks set to end his Newcastle career in the best way possible – as a champion.

After lifting the trophy, Trippier took to social media to celebrate, and Manchester United’s Harry Maguire was quick to reply to his post.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s wholesome message to Kieran Trippier

Despite selling his stake in the club last year, Mehrdad Ghodoussi wanted to join Newcastle fans partying in London.

Invited by co-owner Jamie Reuben to Wembley, Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley turned up to support Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.

Ghodoussi and Staveley sent a message to fans after Newcastle lifted the trophy, and a separate message was sent just to Trippier.
