Ex 49ers Linebacker Signed by NFC Rival

As the San Francisco 49ers continue to turn over their roster, another player is leaving the family.

On Monday, the New York Giants announced that they have signed former 49ers linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to a free agent contract.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Flannigan-Fowles originally signed with San Francisco in 2019 after going undrafted out of Arizona. He spent six seasons with the 49ers before being cut last month.

In his first five seasons, Flannigan-Fowles totaled 79 tackles with five for loss, one sack, and one pass defended across 56 games.

The Tucson, Arizona native finished his collegiate career with 243 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries with 22 passes defended and six interceptions in 50 games played, but was not taken in the draft.
